The del Rios vineyard and winery is located on the western slopes of Mt Anakie in the Geelong region of Victoria, Australia and offers distinctive premium cool climate wines. It is part of the Moorabool valley sub-region of Geelong, which is experiencing a period of rediscovery. Over 70 percent of the early vineyards planted in the Geelong region in the 19 th century were in this area, which ranges from Bannockburn and Lethbridge to Anakie and the area experiences a “continental” climate with low rainfall producing fruit with a rich concentration of flavour, aroma and colour.
The del Rios story started in Anakie in 1994. We believe that great wines are produced from the best quality grapes. Thus the vines are hand-pruned and trained, the fruit is hand picked and the wines are handcrafted solely from estate grown fruit with the aim of producing super premium wines.
Cellar Door and Tasting
We welcome you to our cellar door for tastings and sales of our many award-winning wines. Back vintages are available only at cellar door in limited quantities. Opening hours are Friday – Sunday 11 am to 5 pm. We also offer tastings and sales of Meredith cheese and other local produce reflective of the region. The Cocoa farm chocolates (flavours of Shiraz, Pinot and Merlot) are superb- try them with some del Rios wines!
A nearby granite outcrop is the popular children's attraction Fairy Park. This is the backdrop for the vineyard. Beyond the 14 hectares pf vineyard, the property rises to a higher plateau with views over Corio Bay, You Yangs, Geelong, the Brisbane Ranges and Mt Duneed. We might enjoy the company of a pair of wedge tail eagles that hover above the vineyard.
We are happy to organize light lunches, tapas or cheese platters to accompany wine tastings for group bookings (maximum 30 people). Please contact us to discuss details and prices.
New for 2008! Coffee and home made cakes available. After all the wine sampling you might also enjoy a nice latte before driving home!
We are located next to the Brisbane ranges so we welcome any bushwalking or bike riding groups.
